India successfully tests anti satellite weapon. Low earth orbit satellite destroyed.

Your absolutely right @The Deterrent . Absolutely bang on. Now we know how K4 looks in real life. The whole missile right from first stage is made out of composites And the divergence losses are very small compared to even Agni class

New Towed Artillery Guns need of the hour !!!!!

There's no doubt that the number of SPs in India is woefully small. But India is converging onto 155mm and a lot of steps have been taken in that direction. Towed arty is the one that dominates over SPs in india, hopefully this number will change over time as more and more SPs are inducted ...

New Towed Artillery Guns need of the hour !!!!!

Hi @Tipu7 , Your assessment is quite wrong. Bhim did not fail, it was dropped because Denel was blacklisted from doing business in India for alleged bribery allegations. Same happened with thyssenkrup and others. At least get your facts right before you present them. Hi @Signalian There was a...

    Operating system

Hi, 1) yes 2) a lot of drivers etc are removed in RT patch, so I doubt if it has sound support. You must understand that RT in OS world refers to determinancy and not speed. An OS is called RT if it can perform same operation at same speed all the time and every time! So the speed must be...

Hi @denel There are now many real time linux versions available in market- especially when you buy linux based autopilots. Some of them are available with RT patch. The one in my dp has RT patch. My dp that you see, is my very own creation, it has a Ipad/raspberry pi/arduino based data...

    February 2019 Indo/Pak Standoff - Unanswered Questions

Hi @The Deterrent It does matter because, without the physical infrastructure in place there can be no materialization of the new doctrine. And some of these things we are talking about here take time to mature- for instance the BMD/SSBN patrols etc. My main point here is, you are being overly...

Hi, The problem with a lot of IIT/NIT undergrads who join ISRO, is that they leave for MS /PHD in states within 2-3 years of joining. So some of my friends who actually joined left. I however do know a few folks there but they are not into writing codes for GSLV mission computer. They mostly...

To be honest, I don't need the GuI. I love the black terminal screen and bash scripting

Despite shortcomings, PN is no pushover!

Hi @JamD I agree with you, computing the targeting solutions is also as important as the missiles. I would like to point out that, using Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) or more advanced DQN, it is indeed possible to identify objects like aircraft, maybe a naval ship however what is still a very...

My favourite is Ubuntu Mate! A flavor of Ubuntu I like so much. The thing I like so much about linux is bash scripting. I have automated most of my tasks using my own user defined functions in bashrc file. I send mails, push files onto my drive, git all using terminal. I use awk etc generously...

    February 2019 Indo/Pak Standoff - Unanswered Questions

Hi @The Deterrent You seem to be relying too much on Dr Vipin Narang's evaluation of the situation. I dont think India's nuclear posture has changed, I might be wrong though. It might not be completely wrong to assume that India has re-calibrated or retuned her posture vis-a-vis Pakistan. India...

Indigenous "Kaveri" Project shelved by DRODO?

Yep you're right, I've been to BEL in fact did my summer interns there back in 2012. They're much better than their sister PSUs. It is great to see that BEL has come a long way in manufacturing of radars from, simple INDRA in 80s to AESA radars in post 2010 years.

Indigenous "Kaveri" Project shelved by DRODO?

@Joe Shearer Yes LRDE is one of those labs in bangalore that are doing well. In fact the only two clusters that are doing good work are those in Hyd and Bangalore. As for LRDE, they have recently given the ToT of their MPR to BEL for manufacturing. This piece of information came in DRDO's...

Indigenous "Kaveri" Project shelved by DRODO?

Hi @Joe Shearer You are right, the fact is, there are a few labs in DRDO that are doing phenomenal- some really good work- like the missile cluster in Hyd (ASL, RCI, DRDL) and labs in bangalore like (LRDE) etc and a few in north etc. Rest other labs just do downright mediocre work and push...

Naval and IAF Tejas Mark 2 Designs Revealed

Hi @ziaulislam Actually to be honest, LCA MK2 is indeed a new plane altogther! It no longer is in light weight category and in fact comes in medium weight. Both the airforce and the naval version are completely redesigned with additional control surfaces. This redesign is very deep as it has...

First ever pics of Arihant, Arighat and Chakra parked close to each other!

That's the mindset we need to change. So a Mishra can't learn urdu? I've learnt sanskrit formally for 3 years, among other languages I can read and write hindi, urdu, English and German (B2 level). Urdu is easier to read and write if you know nashtaliq script. It's basically hindi written in...

@Beast Don't force me to report you to admins! Please respond appropriately. There's no word called North Hindi - it is mere figment of your imagination. Hindi and Urdu (the official language of Pakistan) are both derived from hindustani which existed in the subcontinent 800-1000 years back...

First ever pics of Arihant, Arighat and Chakra parked close to each other!

Hi shaheen, I can't comment whether K4 has been deployed on Arihant however what is definitely certain is the fact that K4 has been launched from Arihant as confessed by none other than the DG DRDO in a an interview couple of months back. When DG DRDO himself has confirmed that K4 was fired off...
