NATO formally invites Finland and Sweden to become members, moving closer ending their historic neutrality and defying Putin

Imo, it's the international order changed, U.S. new focus is China. In Putin and his generals' calculation, Russia should take advantage of the power shift, and take actions in East Europe. So here we go, Ukraine War. Obviously, Putin miscalculated. Now Russia is trapped in Ukraine, no hope to...

Why did Turkey lift its veto on Finland and Sweden joining NATO?

It's in Turkey's core interest to let Russia force move north, isn't it? The Russia force in Syria annoys Turkey a lot. I am just stating the facts and logic.

Why did Turkey lift its veto on Finland and Sweden joining NATO?

True. NATO expansion fit Turkey interest. Turkey used the card to blackmail Sweden and Finland, very well. But in the end, Turkey would not stop Sweden and Finland from joining NATO. After all, Turkey dislike Russia involvement in Syria as much as Israel.

Why did Turkey lift its veto on Finland and Sweden joining NATO?

Turkey has veto power, but this is only theoretically. The NATO rely on hard power, to be specific, Sweden and Finland rely on U.S. deterrence. U.S. can provide deterrence with/without Turkey agreement. Turkey has a card, but not the power to back the veto. Turkey is not net security provider...

No. I don't think so. F-35 is gone. U.S. now has Ukraine to hedge/consume Russia. Turkey is not as strategic as it was during the Cold War. While Russia is not as powerful as Soviet which is obvious. In short, U.S. doesn't need Turkey as much as it was. And Turkey wants to kick Kurds a$$ which...

I believe India should arm Russia. India has 3000 tanks. Indian subcontinent was ruled by colonial power for more than 200 years, it's time to revenge.

Will Lithuania's blockade of Russian goods to Kaliningrad will be a casus belli for Russian -NATO war?

Kaliningrad can live without land route of Lithuania. Kaliningrad has a seaport as well. In comparison, West Berlin was blocked by Soviet completely. U.S. had not initiated a war against Soviet by then. If Russia invades Lithuania because of the land route cut, it means a war against NATO. Not...

Will Lithuania's blockade of Russian goods to Kaliningrad will be a casus belli for Russian -NATO war?

It's not pure military issue here. It's unwise to open a second front. Putin has patience.
