I agree on Afghanistan. USA doesnt want another independent Islamic emirate . It just wants Pakistan to crush the Islamists. India would also prefer to see Pakistan keep bleeding in a low intensity conflict rather than the matter be settled.
What is the economic significance of these border areas to Pakistan ? Isn't it better for them to be independent ? The Lahore Resolution anyway called for the creation of independent and sovereign states . Why force them into a unitary structure ?
Something like
"ham ko ma.alūm hai jannat kī haqīqat lekin
dil ke ḳhush rakhne ko 'ġhālib' ye ḳhayāl achchhā hai"
Or, more accurately, " to make a virtue out of a neccessity"
What is so surprising about this ? Elite capture has been a fact of life in Pakistan since Mr Jinnah. Gandhi, Nehru and his socialist gang managed to capture the Congress from the elites ( including Mr Jinnah) who had run it until Gandhi returned from South Africa, but the Muslim League...
Actually, to call a spade a spade, this seems to be propaganda piece. There have been some outstanding contributions by Muslim scientists in various programs in India, but in this article all the scientists mentioned in this article are quite junior and for none of them has any specific...
America has used Pakistan and no longer needs her. Al Qaeda is essentially neutralised and Americans geopolical interests are now focussed on containing Russia and China. Pakistan and Afghanistan are the backwaters, as far as US strategic interests today are concerned and both have been abandoaned.
In my opinion, neither CPEC nor the crackdown are the issues. Pakistan has been is similar economic doldrums when Imran Khan Niazi was in power and several earlier occasions. This is not the first time Pakistan is going to the imf for a bailout.
There are long-standing institutional problems...
Seriously, who uses Western Union these days, when alternatives like Wise are available ? Any bank will generally offer better rates. I thought only those sending small amounts to their families through informal channels used Western Union.
I am not talking about deemed assent. I am talking about whether the President acted according to the Constitution. After the Bill is first sent, he has to either give his assent or return it with a message within 10 days. There is no third option. This is clearly stated in Article 75 (1)...
Before the war, Western support was all from America. The French, Germans and other West Europeans did not want to jeopardize their business dealings with Russia and did not believe Putin would act so recklessly. CIA assessment was that Ukraine would fall within weeks and they did not want to...
I had posted the relevant Article of Pakistani Constitution earlier. It requires the President to either assent or return the Bill with a message in the first go. There is no third scenario and the Constitution is silent on what the position is if the President does neither. I don't think there...
Russia has lost far more than it has gained in the war. It would have been a Russian victory only if they had taken Kiev and installed a puppet government within a month and if Europe and the rest of the world had accepted this as a fait accompli like they did for the occupation of Crimea. As...
