    Pakistan secures $3bn at 1pc

Turkey just issued a new on the run 10Y bond at 9.75%. Pakistan used to issue debt, but is way too risky, even a speculative pricing quote at 10Y would be around 25% I’d guess - not that anyone would buy, or any investment bank would underwrite. The US government is borrowing at 3.5% (current...

So just to be clear, you're not here arguing that this was a good thing to do? If so, then let me just say, when a bailout is on the line, most other political considerations are secondary. This could have been a 110% illegitimate dictator at the helm, let's say Musharraf comes back and climbs...

No, i disagree with your view here. They can and should ask for help. They should not insert themselves in a negotiation that is being done to prevent Pakistan's financial situation from becoming even more disastrous, by citing theirinability or unwillingness to comply with the terms of a...

IMF has been asking the federal government to run surpluses for years, this is a high bar and it's never met for reasons I outlined above. PTI citing this surplus requirement is not a good excuse for what they did. I also work with National Treasuries/DMOs, multilateral creditors (but on their...

It's not rocket science agree, but it is economics. If the GOP were to suddenly go on a saving spree and start paying back debt on net terms, they'd have to be running surpluses and let their debt balances run off. What does this mean fiscally? They'd be draining the GDP actively. They would...

I'm sorry but this is deflection. They clearly knew they were sabotaging the deal and that it would be bad for the state. IMF demands for a surplus are rarely ever met anyway, and as for your point that funding a recovery is a bigger necessity. I'm sorry again but, would you be saying this if...

Amazing that an ex-Finance Minister would try to sabotage an IMF bailout. For shame. Sycophants don't quote me on this, keep cleaning up after your party and dear leader. This is really pathetic and sickening.

"Drones are using Pakistan's airspace to enter Afghanistan's and target us.

And TTP terrorists are coming from your space to target us. Tough sh**, huh? To paraphrase you… maybe we can suggest a dialogue with the Americans, which is all we are prepared to facilitate.

PTI anti Pakistan and economy stance.

Proof comes first, either you have it or it’s conjecture. Your opinion is not worth burning Pakistan’s financial prospects over. You have a political view and at least in the case of MDBs I can say with personal experience that your perception of use of proceeds being eaten by corruption needs...

PTI anti Pakistan and economy stance.

This is the double standards that I talk about, it was okay then but it’s not okay now. So when PEMRA messed with channel rankings, banned politicians speeches, removed or messed with channel rankings like they did with ARY recently, when journalists like Asad Toor, Matiullah Jan etc were...

Please prove to me that the twin deficits and lack of USD inflows is a direct result of corruption. And I’m sure corruption happens, but there’s no quantification to justify disrupting bailouts, let me know how much corruption happens with MDB loans for example. Thanks. Let’s hope our elites’...

Qatar Investment Authority considering about $3bn investment in Pakistan: report

The proof is in the pudding. But I suppose this means they have been able to seriously set up credit lines?

People were being arrested and journalists silenced in the PTI era too. Resistance is justified, aye. But would you have justified derailing bailouts then? Be honest with yourself, I remember well what sort of stuff PTI supporters used to say when the roles were reversed. Disagree. I can’t...

PTI anti Pakistan and economy stance.

I wasn’t silent during PTI’s tenure and I’m not silent now. I can’t say the same of the recently awakened revolutionaries. Still, it has to be wondered how damaging Pakistan is a justified political strategy or a means of bringing civil liberty. Sounds a whole lot worse than the kind of things...

Hear, hear. At the risk of drawing the ire of his devotees, I believe so. Words and ambitions are nice, but the litmus test failed to provide anything drastically new.

IMO likely nobody will be allowed to derail bailout packages, it’s a matter of utmost national security. It’s irresponsible to threaten this, but I think they’re bluffing. Today’s PDM would not have the guts to do this in 2018, these guys can’t be allowed to do it now. Everyone behaves...

Why PTI Doesn't Return Punjab Government to PML(N)? And Also Provincial Governments of Other Provinces

True. Actually if all else fails, OP's suggestion is possible, quitting the provincial assemblies, forcing an election, only to win by a larger majority will put the centre in a quandary. PTI long-term will want to retain Punjab and KPK, and IMO in another local election in Punjab, they'd sweep.

International media throws weight behind Imran, claims Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Since when is int'l media support a bad thing? Most of them have no skin in the game, and care only about estab abuses when they happen, alongside a general liberal preference. Maybe don't support crackdowns and if you really don't want to draw their criticism?
