Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Hi, Once a commercial discovery is made, it is natural to move on to development and production phases (kind of whole idea behind exploration). A government should be judged on the efforts and finances it is pouring in local exploration rather than its efforts on development and production of...

Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Thanks for the link, much appreciated. As per the report, only "1" new exploration license was being held by OGDCL which was awarded in 2015 and "0" in 2016, "0" in 2017, and "0" till 30 June 2018. Does the report not supporting PTI's assertion that PMLN government did not award enough licenses...

Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Thanks for the info, is this from ministry yearbook report? So only 17 leases were granted in 5 years. Total of 1 in 2013, 6 (not 50) in 2014, 3 in 2015, 2 in 2016, 4 in 2017 and 1 in 2018. Do you have similar chart for PTI's 3 years for comparison?

Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Because, it doesn't help GoP's consumers. If older players want to make exuberant profits with additional capacity without injecting additional investments in the economy, they should have proposed to lower their existing capacity charges, making it more attractive to end consumer. Then, there...

Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Hi, Ministry of Petroleum has allowed Tabeer and Energas to do so. Why settle for 300mmcfd when they can get 1200mmcfd? Also, if Engro is going to make money from extra capacity, what benefits are there for end consumer? Did Engro offer to lower it's guaranteed capacity charges for contracted...

Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Hi, I really don't like the idea of more FSRU based import terminals. We should have asked them to build Onshore terminals instead. I tried to explain it here. It's not like, these terminals won't help Pakistan. But we could have achieved much more. Leased FSRUs are not the solution Pakistan...

Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Hi, I am quite skeptic whether we will have customers for all those 6 terminals. Building more FSRU terminals is injustice to Pakistan and criminal negligence of PTI. PTI should not have given go ahead for more FSRUs specially after wasting 3 years. For them to get operational, it will take at...

Gas deficit looms large as PLL fails to procure eight LNG cargoes for Dec-Jan

Hi, Quite interesting figures. Do you have more information regarding it? For price comparison, India is constructing its Dharma Lng Terminal (50-50% stakes b/w Adani & Total - to be commissioned in July 2022) for about $750million, that is a 12mtpa regasification capacity with two 180,000...

Let down by UAE firm, Pakistan seeks two LNG cargoes

Hi, Transit fees will help Afghans, actually will likely be the only thing sustaining Afghan economy - Afghans can be accused of everything bad in multiverse, but being a bad business man is not one of them. It will be foolish of them to jeopardize their future economic prospects tied to this...

Let down by UAE firm, Pakistan seeks two LNG cargoes

Hi, Turkmenistan's pipeline has much better prospects. It also provides Pakistan with added benefits, in long term, over Iranian option. Pakistan should offer Turkmenistan incentives to build an Lng export terminal at Karachi and connect TAP (or TAP-I?) with Pak Stream, and help them export...
