Don’t think these sort of projects should be left up to Politicians to be honest. Such capabilities should be classed as strategic assets, just as important as Nuclear capability. If there could be a Fauji fertiliser then there sure as hell could also be a Fauji Metals/Steels as well.
The few...
Any thing worth having is expensive. You have to start from some where. For a nation of 220 million souls to industrialise & progress, a good metallurgy base is a must. There is all sorts of benefits in having that capability.
And you are probably more aware of that than I am.
That might be the case, but even then it was a blunder. Disrupting business & alienating Traders/Industrialists is never a good idea. These people ought to be cultivated & leveraged so they create more wealth & even if they don’t exactly pay their share of taxes, they still ought to be leveraged...
Thought so,
Although one would have hoped that after Agosta construction in Pakistan a support base would have been built up, so next time an acquisition came up we could chip in with our own bits & pieces.
Coincidently it was Bhutto’s death anniversary today. That man contributed a lot to our State building efforts/process but He made one Giant blunder & that was nationalisation.
We could do with some ballsy Traders/Capitalist/Industrialist/Enterprisers
Exactly, our rapidly growing population is our greatest asset & our worst liability, if we fail to consume it with work. We have no option but to industrialise.
& I hope it is the case as you have stated in your post.
The only way I can think of a JV coming to fruition is if we already have a significant capability in house. Something solid to offer in a partnership.
Now do we have that ?
Hence I asked the question about Metallurgy base.
I am asking the same question. Because as far as I know we are not even making a Motorcycle engine at present.
Ideally though I’d like us to be producing all sorts of Engines/Power Plants, ranging from Motorcycles to cars to Tanks & AeroPlanes.
But that’s a case of ‘if wishes were horses’.
& then what happened ? if he were such a lunatic as you make him out to be & his bhakts believe him to be or even the political gurus who so carefully crafted his strong man image, wished him to be, should'nt he have escalated ?
Why back down then ?
What could be a bigger provocation than 27/02...
& You believe them ?
Barking Dogs Seldom Bite.
If you are getting nervous about Indian oratory over Rafale acquisition then you must be too young to remember all the bravado post SU 30Mki acquisition, the signing of nuclear treaty with USA and the rest, in a post 9/11 world.
Do you not find it utterly shameful that a nation of 220 million souls of just as much intelligence at least, and twice more hard working should rely on beggary & hand outs from its sister nations such as Saudi or Qatari Sheikhdom for its weaponry ?
Gangu propaganda is getting to you a bit too much. No weapon in itself is the final solution. Its not the end of the world.
Then its a shameful opinion to have.
