It would be interesting to know the variant of mig 21 that crashed. I believe currently were only operating Bis and Bison upgrades of mig 21. We know that expect for bisons rest of the mig 21s will be removed from services by next 2 years however mig 21 bisons will be operational till 2025.

I don't believe that Gripen IN will not be selected just because it will be similar to the future Mark 2 LCA. I am sure that if Gripen is shortlisted by IAF then it will be win the competition because when it will come to price negotiation it will offer the best cost

Yes Sancho you are right, but to my knowledge Mig 35 can only use russian weapons and Rafale can have french and other European weapons. But with Gripen we can not only have new European weapons but also can integrate weapons already available in IAF inventory i.e. Astra, Mica that will come...

I would also like to point out one of the most important advantages that Gripen offers over other competitors, they are offering integration of weapons of India's choice. Which means if I understand that we can have either of Indian, Russian, European and/ or American weapons on this fighter...

Hi does any one have any information about the timeline for selection of new engine. I had read earlier in one of the news article that the selection was supposed to be by end of Mar 2010 however haven't heard any thing thereafter.
