I agree 30000 is the population of a large town and there is absolutely no need to station such large numbers I think 3000 is about right for what the base is supposed to do.

This number is highly unlikely but possible if we stationed some paratroopers, marines, rapid deployment, air force and of course navy.

Although Egypt in my opinion needs a base there due to the effect the security of the horn of Africa has on the Suez canal also to protect the Nile.
