I agree 30000 is the population of a large town and there is absolutely no need to station such large numbers I think 3000 is about right for what the base is supposed to do.

Probably fake news Although Egypt in my opinion needs a base there due to the effect the security of the horn of Africa has on the Suez canal also to protect the Nile.
