Why did ISRO purchase them then ? that too in 90s when india was very hard up with forex ?
Yes buran was a failure. It was wasteful and does nothing other than boost vanity of Soviet union and russia. So they canned it.
SSLV does not use cryogenic, neither does PSLV. From 2014 - as per ISRO website total succcesful GSLV launces from 2014 are just 6. 3 more took place this year. So 9 launches in 9 years somehow does not scream "indegenous".
they gave engines to re-factor. I still dont think india has decent cryogenic tech. Why would the lanuches be so low and so few if they really had it ? makes no sense. It only makes sense when you think entire technology is imported, launches are super expensive and few are needed for jingoism.
It sold india 7 cryogenic engines as compromise for india to re-engineer. what you have is indian propoganda.
"In 1993, Russian president Boris Yeltsin, reached a 'compromise' with new US president Bill Clinton on the cryogenic engine deal with India. Russia decided to sell India the seven...
CHina was sanctioned to its ears. And is surronded by miliatry bases of us. India has no such contraints.
It has access to science and techinology of both west and soviet.
Despite all that - not only it kept its population poor - it also kept them backward scientifically. It is a country whose...
LOL - Bharat - a name coming from their cartoons. They want to name their country based on some mythology written in a language (sanskrit) that does not exist. And these people say they are all about science and technology.
This is a position with no ideological or principled basis. but based on a "worry" what will rich or wealthy do. In china the billionaire wont own the property anyway. in other countries the market should work and if it fails politicians will anyway do rent control. This property tax violates...
Also lot of people are posting here smugly about property tax as if it is much fairer way for govt to collect taxes.
I find property tax a very unfair tax - it is nothing to do with cost of utilities or infrastructure - which are actually cheaper for more expensive urban houses. It is based on...
well no one really "owns" a house in either usa or china. Owns in the sense as if you dont "owe" anything to anyone on what you own.
Property taxes in us are anywhere between 1-2plus percent and adjusted everyyear (usually upwards). So you play almost the entire value of your house in 50 years...
Doing and learning must be cognizant of the fact that this is happenning on tax payments of some of the poorest in world.
India needs space applications ofcourse - but they are available in market - even for defense india uses foreign satellite providers. if india wants to do something on its...
The point is not that india must not develop. But in all these ventures india does not even pretend to try anything new. Like say china tried the dark side of the moon.
Indian space sector is super inefficient - they have huge lift off weights and small payload. The whole thing is a show off to...
ISRO uses Vikas engines on its entire line up. They are based on licensed copy of Viking engines from 70s from france. Almost entire technology is copied - nothing in new. huge vanity project.
So NASA budget is 30 times more than ISRO budget. And china has $12 billion. But if you look satellies...
Imagine you are a mexican businessmen - you make great profit simply buying the chinese good , re labeling it and selling in america. Will you trade this option by investing in your own country, dealing with labor/infrastructure issues and resulting pollution and competition for natural...
The rivalry with US will make you one :) - or maybe not lets see.US was very insular before ww2 restricting immigration even from Europe. But rivalry with soviets forced us to engage with the world and changed everything.
Price is a function of supply and demand - you dolt. Not just demand alone. Aslo there is no problem with demand other than housing - which is a good thing anyway.
Deflation is not at all bad in a developing country where demand will always be there. Moreover the current spending profile of chinese is massively geared to housing and related interest costs. Moderation will enable them to spend on lifestyle instead.
Also chinese interest rates are nowhere...
