Pakistan Ranks High on Happy Planet Index 2012

Same reason Bangladesh is higher up the scale than Pakistan and US is ranked so low. There is a big big emphasis given to ecological footprint and Per Capita played a huge part in calculating the ecological footprint. The HPI was calculated using life expectancy, experienced well-being and...

    Indian Helicopter Discussion

I'm not really sure how you can differentiate physical and mental torture based on gender roles. If the enemy plans to torture a soldier captured as prisoner of war only the mode of torture will be different based on gender. At the end of the day, every soldier will face a risk. Any person, male...

Railways puts bullet train project on fast track

Read about the corridor it is being used in. It's not going to be used by middle class people. It's going to be used by business men giving them access to regions where they would probably not think of visiting before. What would the result be? Additional investment in those regions and...

Does India need 8,000 Km Range missile?

Just read the reply right now. You have to realize that missiles launched from Submarine platforms have limited range. The 8000km range was for the land based missile. Do not confuse the two. As far as your perception of my version of "threat" goes, You seem to have ignored the fact that a 8000...

Railways puts bullet train project on fast track

Introduce bullet trains, get rid of old unsafe ones. Thats the way to progress. People arguing against the modern projects in favor of upgradation of existing ones are similar to the ones who argue to upgrade current Migs and Sukhois instead of buying new Rafales or Sukhoi Pak FA's...

Does India need 8,000 Km Range missile?

It will bring in a lot of unwanted attention. Pro's would be that it would allow India to have missile silo's deep in South India with the ability to strike well within Chinese territory (That's the only percieved "threat" tagetted by the missile). Con's I suspect Australia won't be too happy...

1 Rafale fighter = 1,000 village panchayats free from open-defecation

Wonder how many toilets the 13 crores the Karnataka govt spent on prayers to the rain gods sponsor?

1 Rafale fighter = 1,000 village panchayats free from open-defecation

So instead of accepting failure of grass root level leaders who are given funds to develop their constituency but instead waste it on free electricity which despite all protests is not a greater priority over sanitation but garners votes, we have a minister who likens it to the rafale deal? No...

    Ostrich is animal, Pakistan

I understand that. But isn't this taking things a bit too far :P. And I also cannot believe there are people justifying and supporting this. Seriously!

Turkey skirting Iran sanctions by trading gold for crude

As long as the world trades in Euros and Dollars, Iran has something to worry about irrespective of whether it designs an alternative to SWIFT or not. Just to give you an example, Indian Regulatory body (RBI) has not banned fund transfer to Iran. But banks refuse to do so due to the large...

    Average salaries for Pakistani/Indian MBA

Since you've brought up the topic of Bloomberg I will give an analogy to support what I said. Agreed it takes skill to wield the tool. But within India companies take undergrads from IIT's who are trained to be engineers and put them at par with MBA's from average B -Schools in both India and...

    Average salaries for Pakistani/Indian MBA

Please clarify with him on the profile and company. In my honest opinion, and I could be wrong, I believe he is getting you a generic job which has nothing to do with your degree. Additionally, the modus seems quite similar to agents who promise job seekers a particular salary but have them sign...

Turkey skirting Iran sanctions by trading gold for crude

Smart move by both parties. I'm sure Turkey would have calculated it's own rate of gold vs crude and Iran gets to hoard up on the gold!

    Average salaries for Pakistani/Indian MBA

MBA is as useful as you want it to be. I'm guessing Takaful is a type of company which deals with the Islamic way of doing business. You could build a niche for your self in the middle east. But I have no understanding of the profiles and salaries in this sector. It's a cruel world buddy :). We...

Embarrassment as Chinese frigate runs aground

What's emabrassing is not the fact that it got grounded. But the fact that it got grounded in disputed oceans very close to Manila and the fact that it was placed there as part of an aggressive patrolling effort by China.

    Average salaries for Pakistani/Indian MBA

Not really. IIM's don't make the GMAT college list which most companies look at for guidance. Although IIM ahmedabad would be rated a bit higher than ISB (only slightly) sad Fact is IIM grads are not placed at par in terms of salary. As for the other IIM's they are ranked too low to even matter!

India building cern of its own, sail to provide 50000tonnes of steel.

This particular project needs the following: 1. Ideal location for tunnelling. Western Ghats provide the perfect locale. 2.Protection from natural disasters like earthquake and flooding. (UP and Bihar are highly flood prone. The selected location is a relatively safe zone from Earthquakes and...

    India tests N-capable Agni-I missile

Yes they do. Infact US regularly tests its ICBM's with launches and sometimes faces problems too. As per sources since February 2012, at least 3 Minuteman III test launches have been delayed due to technical problems. These are usually launched Vandenberg Airforce Base. Vandenberg Air Force...

    Average salaries for Pakistani/Indian MBA

Problem with the subcontinent is that our universities are notcounted as the best in Asia, let alone the best in the world. If I discount ISB, Hyderabad (which barely makes it) there's hardly any other university which is pegged along the same lines as the more eminent ones around the world...
