Pakistan's ad in Wall Street Journal on 9/11

There are two ways to look at the scenario. 1) America dropped the ball in Afghanistan and is now distracted trying to strategically thwart China's influence 2) America was distracted by the war on terror followed by Iraq for about a decade allowing China to grow unrestrained with no strong US...

India Next Door, China Over the Horizon: The View from South Asia

A rare candid post. Makes for a good read as far as point of view is concerned. But to be honest China's success was brought about by the huge influx of foreign investment following the second set of reforms and pushed further by it's willingness to be the world's manufacturing hub. The factors...

India Next Door, China Over the Horizon: The View from South Asia

That's not possible. Even the so called "private companies" in China are owned by the state or state players. Figures indicating private sector in China is an eyewash. But it'll be interesting to know what the percentages are. Do you have any figures?

Pakistan's ad in Wall Street Journal on 9/11

I am sure this is going straight into the list of marketing and banding disasters. The content, tone and timing of the ad is really really bad. Has done more damage than good for Pakistan. Besides, it looks from the tone of the article like there is very little value(if any) placed on Pakistani...

India's first civilian aircraft(NM5) flies for the first time

This most likely won't be for the IAF. It's to train civilian pilots in India. There is a dearth of infrastructure in India as far as training in Civil aviation goes.

On the anvil: 5th generation Super Sukhois

I have mentioned this before in a few threads. RCS avoids radar detection. IR detects engines signature. Modifying the nozzles enables an aircraft to reduce IR signature significantly. Su30MKI already has this modification and further upgrades are expected. ---------- Post added at 03:31 PM...

    Mausam hits turbulence with IAF

Am torn between right to creative freedom and the responsibility of film makers to not misrepresent facts in a movie. To be honest I'd rather see a sequence showcasing the actual abilities of a fighter than an exaggerated/misrepresented movie version. But from a film maker's point of view, the...

    DRDO invents a skin cream!!!!!

You obviously don't know the natural ingredient market very well. When they say Herbalthey don't mean Ayurvedic only. They mean plant derived. It's currently the fastest growing sector in the world. And the R&D money spent is miniscule compared to the money they make off the technology transfer...

    DRDO invents a skin cream!!!!!

Like I mentioned in a previous post, these are off shoots of projects that have military applications. When a commercial applicationis detected, it is made and sold off to a private entity as part of the technology transfer. How does it help DRDO research for Defence projects? Funds from the tech...

US put India's N-status more on par with Pak than China

I'm not denying China has a better nuclear arsenal than India. But not Signing the NPT means India is not a recognized Nuclear Weapons state? What kind of logic is that?? If you have an arsenal of nuclear warheads you are a nuclear weapons state, period.

Pakistan, strategic sites & stealth technology

The PAK FA was conceptualized long before the J-20. But it was revived the same time as the initiation of the J-20. Russia has delayed delivery of equipment that have been bought after being refurbished to the point where it defies logic. But they have been meeting the delivery dates of new...

    DRDO invents a skin cream!!!!!

Military technologies the world over tend to give us commercial applications we never imagine to be related to the military. Not many people know that there is a seperate department in DRDO researching a lot of applications to make day to day life of a soldier easier. This tends to spin off...

On the anvil: 5th generation Super Sukhois

Yeah..I came across a new terminology in one of the blogs of some armchair general. He referred to planes like Su 35 and Super Sukhoi as generation 5- indicating that they are more advanced than 4.5+ gen aircraft and close but not quite 5th gen aircraft.
