Was communism a bad thing ? a discussion

I think its more like capitalism cannot survive without a cheap form of energy, be it a barrel of oil or a human slave.

Outpacing U.S., China now the world’s largest gorger of energy

I for one am happy to see the massive high speed rail investment by the government, apparently there's a plan to link it all the way to Singapore :smitten: Trains a good way to cut down the carbon footprint of long distance transport, and if they are powered by Nuclear or other renewable...

At least 50 dead in India train crash

Corruption is the scourge of all societies, hopefully one day someone will rise in the government to clean the house out. Its not impossible, when Singapore was riddled with corruption back in the 60's. The founding minister authorized the arrest of even his own family if they were found to...

Was communism a bad thing ? a discussion

Communism & Capitalism both in its purity is a bad thing, but if a good leader is at the helm the nations will prosper. China started off with Communism at its purest (not surprising since it came from Russia) and is now moving to a hybrid communism/capitalism system. If this is long term...

At least 50 dead in India train crash

They should stick some of the Railway minister supporters into the trains and things will get fixed pretty damn quick. RIP to the families of the tragic accident.

    Clueless on China

Of course if a foreign company manages to buy over a whole company say Lockheed the technology can be transferred to the parent company. In addition a foreign company usually buys controlling shares in an mining company (be it oil or steel) just means influencing the company to ship the finish...

Chinese Gen.: "“If a US carrier enters the Yellow Sea it will become a living target"

Ah Peter Hessler, he is one of the few authors who at least get his hands dirty and actually writes properly on his experiences.

    Varyag update

Boy are we surrounding by dummies, it take 3 kilometers to stop an oil tanker and he expects an Aircraft Carrier to swivel around in tight spaces like a remote control car.

The Drums of War? Pentagon Provokes New Crisis With China

So whats your point? Should we turn the clock back and go to the Ming Dynasty? Or maybe a aggressive Super Power like Russia should take the lead?

The Drums of War? Pentagon Provokes New Crisis With China

Agreed, I'm sure many people on all sides won't attest to that statement.

The Drums of War? Pentagon Provokes New Crisis With China

I doubt War would ever be declared by US and China, its almost a sure thing someone will launch a nuclear attack and the radiation dust would probably blow down to India and South East Asia so not only China but most of Asia will be impacted. Economically besides the trillions of dollars...

Mate lets not get worked up over a discussion? I pulled the article just to indicate all countries not to condemn. All countries will pirate/RE based on what they can manufacture. Usually pirated software being the easiest, then drugs, toys etc. Some governments are even known to print...

My point being all countries copy, so get off your high horse. To the rest of the readers, this is just to refute Gubbi's IPR accusations which is not solely on China

Have not heard of that one, but I do recall this incident when I was in India back in 06 - 07. Unfortunately I did not save the newspaper but I recall the Army General refused to use the ordnance or something to the matter. The Tank Shell That Scared Its Users June 16, 2006 India has had...

Lets get this moral stance of copying out of the way, every country copies in the name of National Security or some other crap. Be it guns, planes, tanks etc. Saying that China broke the trust of some nations by copying their tech is rubbish why? - No country trust any country (does India trust...

    Clueless on China

An amazing decent discussion has been turned to rubbish with all this sidetracking. We all know that US and China need each other for trade purposes and keeping the world stable (A dormant superpower is better then a aggressive one no?). So all this currency dumping nonsense will never happen.
