BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

Why not? PPP when combined with GDP nominal tells us a lot about the structure of economies. When comparing BD and India it told us that 10-15 years ago that BD was importing a lot of expensive stuff 10 years ago and India was producing more of it's products and services that were cheaper...

Foreign exchange reserve crisis. Taka may crush shortly.

Foreign reserves have gone down by 3 billion US dollars(less than 10%) in last 3 months and that was because payment for items ordered in January-March 2022 were settled in last quarter. BD government has severely restricted non-essential imports since then.

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

The actual point of this thread is to destroy once and for all the argument that BBS "fakes" the GDP data. As PPP does not rely on BD government statistics, then we are not seeing the usual BD trolls arguing that the data is not real. I expect that as the proportion of goods and services...

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

Dude, you are totally out of your depth here. Please read and learn about the difference between income and wealth. Once you understand those two things, then you would appreciate how BD consumption will grow faster than India's till it catches up and eventually surpasses it.

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

Thick as mince some of them. Economics is a complex subject that spans many disciplines and this area is beyond their limited abilities.

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

Dude, PPP is not obtained from any government statistic but a measure of the relative cost of a basket of goods and services across countries. The average BD’shi has caught up with an Indian in living standards, although Indians still have greater accumulated wealth. That is why for some time...

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

Agreed and this is actually a reflection of the enormous strides that BD has made in import substitution over the last decade. Things made in BD are cheaper than imports and so that pushed the PPP numbers up as the IMF has confirmed.

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

Edited my opening post.:p: To be fair most Indian members are now accepting that BD data is correct. That is the same with Pakistanis. The bizarre thing is that there are more than a few BD'shis that still insist that BD produces fake GDP data when even all the major economic forecasters...

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

It is per capita PPP and so BD government data is not used as it compares the relative cost of a basket of goods and services across countries. Totally destroys the arguments of trolls who keep insisting that BD "fakes" its data.

BD almost catches up with India in GDP PPP per capita

BD was at around 75% of India's level 15 years ago and so BD economy has been growing consistently quicker. Also notice that by 2027 BD will be at 3/4 of Sri Lankan level according to IMF forecast.

China likely to get Mongla Port project

Actually BD is in a better position to industrialise than Vietnam. BD has far more value add from its industries such as garments and electronics than Vietnam, which has a high proportion of re-exports by MNCs. What makes you think that BD population is not hard working and getting...

British Pakistanis hit hard by multiple crises

Guys, Pakistanis are actualy very well off in the UK. It is just not shown in the official statistics. In the town where I live in the south of England, they own a lot of businesses, have nice houses and drive nice cars. A lot Pakistani GPs around here as well. Yes they will be affected like...

World left Bangladesh to shelter 1m Rohingya alone, Shahriar tells Guardian

Myanmar only may want war as BD is weak. With a decent airforce and integrated air-defence network of MRSAMs placed around all critical infrastructure and major population settlements, the savages cannot cause much harm to BD. BD government is embarrasing the nation with its whining when it...

World left Bangladesh to shelter 1m Rohingya alone, Shahriar tells Guardian

I think we have discussed this before and will have to agree to disagree. BD has an economy FIVE times that of Myanmar. It would take only a 0.5 percentage rise in GDP spend on defence for BD to totally dominate Myanmar militarily. That would not affect BD social and economic development. I...

World left Bangladesh to shelter 1m Rohingya alone, Shahriar tells Guardian

Pathetic imbecile. Why should the "world" get involved when BD was asking for it? BAL government has been in power for 14 years and not a single modern fighter aircraft is yet to be purchased. When they came into power in 2009, BD was more powerful than Myanmar in all the 3 major branches...

Saudi Arabia to sign security cooperation with Bangladesh: Foreign ministry official

What on earth is the BD government thinking? The less interaction with the Gulfies then the better. BD should strive to minimise interaction with the Gulfies to just oil and gas imports by 2030 by cutting out BD'shi worker export.

First jet fuel plant goes into operation

Let us build another plant or scale this one up to produce all the jet fuel the country needs to save around 1 billion US dollars a year in forex buying refined oil from abroad.

Rishi Sunak wants to make UK-India ties 'more two-way'

Do you Indians want to be hated by the British public like Pakistanis are? Stop forcing your IT coolies into the UK as the public are already sick of them. Sunak would be a fool if he allows an FTA with India that means hundreds of thousands of Indians get to settle in the UK over this decade.

Govt to raise Tk15,000cr for three projects through sukuk

Excellent plan. BD has chronically low revenue to gdp collection and so time to tap into the growing taka amounts in the BD population to finance infrastructure projects. One day in 10-15 years time, BD may be able to finance all it's infrastructure projects internally.
