Chinese Navy (PLAN) News & Discussions

Nice pics. Doing the math, it's radar's mast is at a height of 28 m.

China's 294 megatons of thermonuclear deterrence

Not much of them could reach the U.S., though, which again, is not relevant as what they have that could reach the U.S. is more than enough to 'discourage' a war.

China's 294 megatons of thermonuclear deterrence

It's more on the terms of sheer quantity of quality, methinks. Russia and China are really the only nations that field high megatonnage nukes, and even they are starting to phase them out. In the future, yes, the only purpose for nuclear weapons would not be for MAD, but rather a small, precise...

    Iran destroys Israel (israeli propaganda)

There's actually a nifty nuclear blast effect simulator on the internet for that: HYDESim: High-Yield Detonation Effects Simulator 5 PSI is the minimum overpressure to destroy a regular wooden house, which would, more than likely, indicate a dead resident. Thus 5 PSI is the bench mark I'll...

    Iran destroys Israel (israeli propaganda)

You don't need that much. I've done the math some time ago, and (not counting post-blast effects, such as local famine, local drought, local riots and disorder, obvious radiation spreadage, etc), and even with China's small ICBM stockpile of about 54 missiles, totaling about 114 warheads, could...

LONG RANGE AIR AND MISSILE DEFENCE SYSTEM DECISION

The funny thing is, that all three of the main missiles that the S-400 uses, have either similar attributes to the PAC-3, or superior attributes (40N6 is the best SAM in the world, as of current). Of course, U.S. pressure on Turkey will more than likely move Turkey into purchasing PAC-3s, which...

China's 294 megatons of thermonuclear deterrence

Megatonnage is a bad measure of a nation's nuclear power. Anything more than x (I haven't gotten around to doing the research) is enough to ruin a nation (or the world for that matter) for decades. Russia and the US can each destroy the world some odd times over. China probably doesn't have that...

    Al-Khalid tank (Type 90-IIM / MBT-2000) Information Pool

They could probably up armor it by simply replacing that caged-basket that's on the back end of the turret with something more solid and in layers, like 3 pieces of steel at varying hardnesses, that would give it great protection v.s. HEAT rounds with a good amount of air space between it and...

    Al-Khalid 2

Well, I'll expound on that. The Arjun, as it is now, is not a Chally or a Merkava or an Abrams, protection wise. On the RHAe to RHAe scale, the Arjun is inferior to what I just listed. Same with the T-90 (w/o ERA). However, add heavy ERA to the T-90 and you've got one of the best protected tanks...

    Al-Khalid 2

Nah, India will more than likely produce indigenously designed tanks from now until the foreseeable future. The Arjun does have some short comings though, a large one is that protection wise, it is actually inferior to the T-90, simply on the basis that it doesn't use heavy ERA, which is...

Possible Reaction of Pakistan after India's AGNI V 5500KM

Even though I know that the whole "India-Pakistan" competition thing is just the result of many years of ****-showing, why does it matter if India tests an ICBM, India can already wipe Pakistan off the face of the earth, and Pakistan can do the same. The only reason for an ICBM in the first...

    1 gigaton nuclear weapon

You really, really don't need more than a few hundred kilotons to do most of the jobs you'd want a nuke to do.

Options for Pakistan in dealing with Ind, US

Make love, not war. I mean that literally.

Chinese special forces show off their bizarre snow training rituals

Peacetime is better than wartime anyways. When SHTF, it's just going to be a lot of nukes and a lot of dead people.

    Al-Khalid tank (Type 90-IIM / MBT-2000) Information Pool

The Leopard 2A6's and the Leclerc don't have great turrets, in my opinion. Thus far, the best turret design to date is on the Abrams, due to the fact that it is the only tank in the world to have a fully segregated, armored ammunition stowage point. Even the Leopard 2, the Merkava IV, etc, don't...

US Navy Demos 33 MJoule Railgun

How do you think we guide terminal-phase ICBMs with such pin-point accuracy? lol. Guidance for hypervelocity projectiles is possible, just costs a lot.

    Al-Khalid tank (Type 90-IIM / MBT-2000) Information Pool

That looks like a camera angling issue. The T-90 only has ERA on a bit less than the front half of it's turret.
