This is just my personal opinion but what I feel is the Optimized Strike Package might be an aircraft similar in its role as the Jaguar or MiG-27s ( Deep penetration Strike Aircraft and Multirole fighter Bomber) with advanced avionics, EW - ECW and Stand Off weapons and Precision Bombing...
The Su-30MKI currently uses the AL-31FP engines rated at 123KN whereas the Su-34 uses the AL-31FMP1 which is rated at 132KN....
which allows the Su-34 to carry loads if stand-off weapons and PGMs.
However the Su-30 MKI has a T/W ratio of 1.14 which is absolutely critical for it to be...
Like I said the Maitri SR SAM was envisaged as a "point defence short range quick reaction missile " to be used by all three services including the Navy and in order to be used in ships it needs to be compact and light here is a comparison for you
Akash weighs 720kg has a length of 5.78m whereas...
Reaction time in the range of SPYDER SR SAM.....
Bulky nature will create problems especially if it's mounted on Naval Ships and the SR-SAM has been envisaged as a Tri-Services missile as a result compact missiles are the way to go on ships plus a VLS lauching mechanism has its own advantages...
Our ones are flying but flying with their ORIGINAL "NAMES" be it MKI or SEPECAT Jaguar or a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27..!!
We don't dishonor our engagements and re-paint them and name them with fancy native names....!!
Everyone knows the story was done with the Su-27s........I do not need to...
Ok firstly Akash is a medium ranged SAM which relies on command guidance instead of an inbuilt seeker and it has a range of 35km which rules it out as an SR-SAM secondly Akash is bulky and isn't VLS configured plus it has a longer reaction time between target acquisition and missile...
The selection of the AL-55i was completed in 2005 and at that the proposed 25KN indigenous wasn't even heard of.!!
The AL-55i basically replaced the underpowered Snecma engines.....
However a lot of subsonic intermediate jet trainers like the MiG-AT and the Kawasaki K-4 all have engines...
AFAIK,
earlier the HJT-36 Sitara prototype was powered by the Snecma Larzac 04-H-20 engine which produced 14.24 KN of thrust but the aircraft was under-powered that is why the IAF selected the AL-55i turbojet engine with 17.27KN of thrust to power the Sitara....
This is why the license...
Tejas and Rafale are different classes of aircraft.!!
Tejas is a light combat aircraft whose main job would be to replace the MiG-21 interceptor fighters and this aircraft has also way better precision strike capability than the MiG-21s- thanks to it's varied range of A2G munitions
Whereas the...
My friend, The KH-31 ( AS-17 krypton) supersonic missile is already in service with MiG-29 and the flanker series of fighter jets..!! :)
For example the KH-31A cruise missile was ordered by the IAF for its su-30 aircrafts.!
I don't how do you find the Arjun Mk-I a failure.???
Especially when 124 MBTs are in active service with the Indian Army- 43rd Armoured Regiment and 7th Armoured regiment since March 2011.
Since being inducted it has participated in various live exercises.....including last month's Sarvada Vijay.!!!
Yes will be a good plan..!!
Will make the entire Astra family a versatile range of Missiles..!!
And taking into account the ground tests of the Astra.....a spin off resulting in the development of a SAM system on the lines of the American sea Sparrow would be great..!!
Exactly the R-73 is a great WVRAAM..!! A potent IR seeker with good jam-resistance and high off boresight capability makes it a real asset..!! No wonder it will stick around
@Oscar: Thread turning into an off topic troll fest please intervene..!! :-/
R-73 isn't going anywhere in the near future..!!
Mig-29s and Su-30 mkis will use it for sure..!!
Then comes the RVV-MD the next gen of the R-73 family..!!
@sancho: any insights bro.?? :-)
Ofcourse Kalashnikovs are preferred..!!
Extremely reliable as always.....hardly jams due to dirt, water or mud and add to that the 7.62x39 M43 round......packs more punch than a 5.56.!!
Most definitely 47s and 56s or even AK-103s..!!
We'll know about it for sure.!! :-)
