Now that we have the first 055 launched, do members here think we could also see the second 055 also launched by the end of the year.........as going by the photos we have seen, the build of the second 055 looks fairly advanced, with the hull intact, but now just needing the superstruture?

Well, according to Henri.K, the Chinese Navy has ordered some 26 x 052D's. I don't know where he got this info from, but he is usually correct with his predictions on Chinese Navy matters, and if that does come true, then that means the Chinese are going to have a very large, powerful surface...

The actual launch of the first 055 is be tomorrow June 28th according to a Chinese source..........and I can well believe it as the ceremonial flags have already been fitted. It will be a proud day for the Chinese to see this beast of a Destroyer finally exposed to them.............just think...

Well, as far as i know, i havn't seen anywhere that states the 054B is in production, and in fact it looks more likely going by the proposed construction tables that the 054A will continue until probably 30 have been built. I think 054B will start construction before the end of this decade.

I thought the 002 Carrier was going to be built, or being built at JN shipyard (and not Dalian). Is that true or not? Regarding tonnage.....i too have noticed that Carriers do end up usually having a higher tonnage than the original figures quoted. I seem to remember our QE carriers were stated...

They are circular, because they belong to the 052C Destroyers, and they were China's first generation VLS for its HHQ-9 surface to air missiles, but since then the Chinese have designed their own rectangular VLS, similar to, and as used by other navies.....:-)

Actually, you can't compare the DDG1000 to a 055, as they are completely different types of vessel, and don't have the same mission goals. In fact the Zumwalts, are such odd beasts, they don't even fit in with the US Navies requirements, they don't have BMD, they don't have AEGIS, and i don't...

Is it expected, that the remainder of this class to be updated as well? Anyway it looks pretty good.

Regarding the 052D, it does look like the class could well end up as 14 units, as we havn't seen any additional units listed in any construction tables. If that happens, then that is still more than what was originally predicted. By the way the Chinese have launched themselves into the 055...

@cnleio...........i may of misunderstood your post, but the 11th 052D "Chengdu" was launched last summer on the 3rd August 2016.

I believe there are 2 x 054A's which will be commissioned into the Chinese fleet, late this Spring or early Summer. If there are to be 30 054A's built, that would suggest the follow on class 054B won't start construction until the end of this decade......which i think is the most likely scenario.

Well, people did initially predict the class would max out at 12 ships, but as of this moment there are 14 052D's...........11 built at JN shipyard, and 3 at Dalian. :-)

We have all seen the update to the DDG 167, and now to the first SOV 136, but is its sister ship 137 also being updated at this current time? I ask, as at the early stage of 136's update, 137 was parked next to it, but i don't remember seeing any refit work being done to it at the time, and...

Just to confirm, i believe that we now know there are 4 x 055's currently under construction. 2 at JN and 2 at Dalian.......is that correct?
