No..no scholarly discourse, no pros and cons, but the individual's idea, what actually comes to his mind when he says 'I want an Islamic state'. Plz read the op carefully.
For now I'm more interested in hearing the opinions of others. This thread is intended to trigger an introspection in those people who happen to advocate for an Islamic state as well as in those who protest the idea/concept.
Speak your mind:
1. What is your idea of an Islamic state?
2. How, according to your understanding of Islam, is an Islamic state supposed to come into being?
3. What does Islam require from a government?
Feel free to reply to or skip any of the above.
Please note that the thread is not...
Al-Shabab (assuming they are liable) shouldn't be killing Kenyans and Kenya shouldn't have sent soldiers to Somalia to fight them. Everybody RIP (including the e-warriors here).
@al-Hasani, In Islamic history I vaguely remember of reading something like 'al arabal araba' who are/were from the southern part of the Arabian peninsula. Are/were they from Yemen by any chance?
'Good' or 'bad'- apart from thinking of posting either of these two remarks I really don't know what to do with these threads. No wonder they end up in fighting between two sides over things not even remotely related to the topic. Better refrain from posting such threads.
Bangladesh army's advancing business interests
By Kamal Ahmed BBC News, Dhaka 15 August 2010 Last updated at 05:38
The Bangladeshi army has over the years played a key role in the country's political life, but it has now also emerged as a major player in the business arena, with interests...
These haor areas or other marshlands seem impenetrable for any forces be it friendly or enemy troops. Is the 'riverine infantry' you talk of is altogether a different/new concept or just a special role for traditional infantry?
I think both of the statements may be true. The govt was perhaps seeking to win the Army's favor somehow and persuaded the Army to come with this proposal. Win-Win
Ultimately BNP would have to pay for this funny trial if they form govt next time. They wouldn't have the rational to hang the accused/convicted leaders of JeI or the guts to free them in defiance of the Awamis. Nor do they seem to have the ability to take initiative for a retrial by another court.
