    Monkey King Film

It won't be a gamble if it's a small budget romantic comedy, $60 million production cost is not a small number for a Chinese film. You'll need around $180 million in box office to just break even. The only way they can do this is to strike gold in overseas markets, especially Japan's...

    Monkey King Film

Filmko's last 3D film (a Chinese adaption of Don Quixote) was a complete critical and box-office failure. They're not even going to recover their investment in that film and they're throwing another $60 million to make a 3D Monkey King adaption? And with a completely no name director? Guess...

Here are some nice photos of those buildings with great political significance collected...

China's domestic CPU FeiTeng-1000 has been installed in supercomputer Tianhe-1

CPU maybe. GPU? very unlikely. CPU designing has been around for a long time now and there's a huge amount of public knowledge available. The same can not be said for GPU designs. FeiTeng-100 used in Tianhe-1, for example, utilizes Sun Microsystem's open source SPARC instruction set. There's...

Is food self-sufficiency an outdated idea?

I was reading an article on rise in China's food imports and implications for the self-sufficiency policy. China is importing corn and rice. Is the country?s food self-sufficiency being reassessed? I wonder if food self-sufficiency has already lost much of its strategic meanings when we're no...

Shanghai World Expo ends; drew 72 million visitors

Count me a skeptic. It seems to me Shanghai Expo is more of a government subsidized publicity event for foreigners to build up their soft power in China. Same for the planned Shanghai Disneyland.

A Forum Post regarding the Danger of Helping India Upgrading its Infrastructure

China should be selective when offering financing to infrastructure projects in India. Financing should be aimed at helping our strategic industries only, like telecommunications/power generation (esp. green tech)/railway/etc. Project in low value-added fields shouldn't get cheap financing.
