I agree with you that running the government is very different from the positions taken when in opposition. The Congress is emulating the BJP for example. I get it that the government needs to talk & Modi did a good thing when he invited NS to India & then followed up with talks. I also believe...
One of the rare times that I can't disagree with the assertion by Congress.
"It's a grand betrayal. It's a betrayal of everything that this government has ostensibly, publicly espoused," Congress leader Manish Tewari said.
The Indian NSA does not talk formally about the political issue in Kashmir, the FS can talk to the Pakistan FS on that & other issues. The point was specific. The meeting in India which was cancelled did not have any MEA component which was why Pakistani insistence then to discuss Kashmir was...
There is a good chance that is what will happen. The High Court's ruling (presently being challenged in the Supreme Court by all parties) divides the disputed land between the complainants.
As already said by @Eminent Mainstream Media, the talks on J&K would be related to security issues only. The Indian NSA cannot discuss the political part of the issue since that is not in his remit. That would only fall under the purview of the MEA.
That bit actually can't be amended. India was always regarded as a secular state even if the preamble did not have the word. It is now protected by the basic structure doctrine & no amendment will be allowed.
There is a traditional story of how Vasco da Gama supposedly told a bunch of locals that "we seek Christians and spices". The truth is that the phrase was told alright but not by Vasco da Gama himself but by a Portuguese convict on board who was expendable enough to test the waters. The guy...

Hoodwinking is too strong a word but the point is that they were always keeping the door to negotiations open, something that is made clear with news of this meeting over a year back & very early into Modi's tenure.
Not true. As I have said earlier, Modi broke 3 years of no FS level talks...
Look at the date. The OP got an article from November 20th.
