the problem is money- they have the technology base and industrial base present but dont have enough money to fund their projects -like t 95mbt.
countries like india or china can make great use of this situation by buying the plans of these projects and developing them further on their own...
so this is news worth posting in world affairs??? Kidnappers targetting rich kids...... Who else are they supposed to target?? Slum dwellers??
I agree that the security situation in india needs to improve and steps are being taken in that regard, but opening a thread on kidnappers targetting...
thats why i said we should buy the plans of t 95 from russia or co develop it with russia.
Also i think we should increase our tank strength to at least 4500 tanks...... 1700 t 72 ajeya, 1600 t 90m and 1000 arjun mk1,mk2 while remaining being the light tanks
so what if the carrier is delayed a bit..... Earlier reports had it coming by 2012 end , now its 2013....no big deal.
As for the price- name another carrier of this class at the same or lesser price....
Bashing russians is so easy for some people, but they refuse to understand that things like...
first time hearing about it too.....
idyb.com/imr/details.php?id=419
that link says the mmr has range of greater than 100km for fighter size targets, tracks 10 and engages only 2 at once...... Pretty modest if you ask me
if this news is true and work on second sub is just begining then its a sorry state of affairs for the indian navy.
Anyways hope they start working on ssn soon instead of ssbn, we need more attack subs in the class of akula
so the french are asking for 9 billion euros for 62 rafale???thats 12.8 billion dollars...... 200 million per rafale.
Who says the rafale is cheaper than eft???
my vote-
1. Mig 29/35 but only if spares problem is solved.
2. Tejas mk2 but only if it is as good as hal promises and is ready by 2015-16.
3. Do the upgrade, but laugh sadistically when you tell dassault that the rafale has been rejected.
its not a question of whether russia is willing to supply spares, but whether they are able to...... Its their industry which needs to improve, not their willingness to supply india with spares........
Or best case scenario- the russians allow us to produce our own spares after technology...
its all about political philosophy...... Gujarat has a govt which is pro capitalist hence the labor laws, sez's etc favor businessmen a lot....... But in some other states the govt continues to have extremely unfair( to industrialists) labor laws etc and does not remove them for fear of losing...
dont think its true..... Just last year we had all the permenant members in india saying they support our bid..... Still this is a long process and will probably take about 7-8 years in the best of circumstances
true, spares will be an issue........ the iaf is sending out open tenders for spares for the mig 29--- here's an example
Supply Of Spares For Mig29 Aircraft- New Delhi, Delhi, India - Indian Air Force - Free tenders for Metal & Non- Metal Products from India
scrap the upgrade - get around 50 mig 29smt for that amount , it will reduce the variety of aircraft in the inventory, providing us equal or better capabilities than the upgrades and also the maintenance will be no problem as we have been flying these aircrafts for a long time as it is.
good article.
the iaf needs to encourage indigenous technology, a big order for the tejas mk2 will help a lot here- giving HAL and ADA the confidence and support they need to get the AMCA flying by the promised time....
