IAF hoping for Acceptance of Necessity (AON) for 114 MRFA within next 3-4 months. After that the MRFA RFP will be issued.
IAF and IN are looking to induct almost 500 aircraft within the next 15 years
83 + 50 Tejas Mk1A
108 Tejas Mk2
126 AMCA
114 MRFA
Plus the IN is looking at a plan of 100...
Actually stealth related technology is pretty much already in a pretty decent state of progress at DRDO labs.
Conformal antennae have been developed, serpentine intakes demonstrated, DSI intakes, RAM coatings are done, even new composites with RAM, Open range for RCS measurement, RCS...
We didn't commit billions. What are you even talking about?
India spent USD 275 million during the Design and Development phase during which period some data related to the Su-57 was shared with HAL. However, the extent of the cooperation was very disappointing and most of the design work for...
AMCA is on the verge of completing CDR i.e. the Platform level Critical Design Review. After that, CCS sanction will definitely come in which means funds get allocated to start the building of the prototype.
Basically the AMCA design is almost done. Engine selection is done and F-414 engine...
F-21 is the new marketing name for the F-16V offered to the IAF. It features a few other capabilities that the standard F-16V offered to other nations doesn't.
It all depends on the US Administration. Remember how India got a nuclear waiver which was never offered to others and caused a lot of...
Why are you pushing this narrative of F-35 coming or being ready to come any time soon? It is not happening now, so quit this strange track.
Rafale M and Super Hornet were evaluated for STOBAR ops at INS Hansa. Was F-35B a part of it?
The IN has submitted it's report of which fighter it found...
Actually the F-15EX is the most capable US candidate and is the likeliest to be offered by Boeing.
The F-21 is very unlikely to find favor with the IAF, just as the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet isn't of any interest either.
One of the strange things I found out was that the US offer for F-16Vs was...
ORCA was an HAL proposal that has gone NOWHERE.
the IAF is simply not going to allow any TEDBF derived Air force variant to endanger it's beloved MRFA. That much is clear as day.
The French are more than willing to go with local assembly. Their only primary demand is that it has to have an order of at least 100 Rafales.
Now that the Indian Navy has chosen the Rafale M (as per most trustworthy sources), the sane thing would be to go in for 74 Rafale F4s for the IAF...
Says who?
So far I haven't seen a single IAF official even mentioning TEDBF, even though they're more than well aware of it's design requirements and capabilities, given it is being developed side by side with the AMCA and Tejas Mk2 at ADA and HAL with IAF Project Management teams embedded.
If...
Yes indeed. The last we had seen of the TEDBF was this image of it going for Wind Tunnel Testing. Obviously they would've been doing WTT of the intakes as well and have as a result of these tests modified the forward fuselage significantly.
The images of the TEDBF that I've seen at Aero India...
They cannot.
Simply speaking, they're in two different categories for two different services. The same platform will not necessarily work well for both of them.
They tried to make a naval fighter out of the LCA and the results were disappointing in many areas where the LCA was designed from...
AMCA Project Director talks about the current status of the program. Will complete Critical Design Review soon and go to the CCS for sanctioning of funds for the prototype fabrication to start.
TEDBF design specs have been changed quite a bit since the last time they were published at DefExpo 2022.
Looks like an Indian Rafale now. Not that I'm complaining, given what a looker the Rafale and how amazing it's performance is.
DefExpo 2022 specs-
Length: 16.30 m (53 ft 6 in)...
Indian Navy may need 100 TEDBF fighters. They may be approaching CCS for clearance sometime this year.
Dr Girish Deodhare DG ADA has confirmed that TEDBF is in Preliminary Design phase and that it's wing folding mechanism design (a critical safety requirement) has been finalised.
Expect...
Tejas fighters at Sulur AFS, from No.18 'Flying Bullets' squadron (with FOC fighters with the IFR probe) and No.45 'Flying Daggers' squadron (with IOC fighters without the IFR probe) getting together for the 9 Tejas fighters formation that flew over Aero India 2023 at Yelahanka.
Every fighter can perform negative g turns - typically their envelope is defined from positive Gs to negative Gs.
Tejas' envelope is from +8G to -3.5G.
Fuel sloshing and fuel management is a big issue with negative Gs. To the pilots, developers and others who understand aviation, it...
