SAMI signed an agreement for a ToT with Thales around short range air to air missiles and radars in 2019. I believe these particular missiles are purchased directly from France though, local production hasn't started.

Order one or two main platforms to base the airforce around. If you're worried about American interference, then base the force around Russian airframes. Varying your suppliers is not a bad strategy but having FIVE different airframes form your fighter squadrons is a logistic nightmare.
I don't understand Egypt's strategy with procurement. It's like they're tasting from every menu at the buffet. F-16 upgrades? I'll take some of that. Mig-29s? Could be tasty! Are those Su-35s? Yes please! Rafales? Don't mind if I do~
Ukrainian Mil Defense industry inhereted a lot of know-how from the USSR days but they don't have the money to fund it. Many countries are now seeing the worth of diversifying their weapon procurement from Western NATO nations because they're becoming fickle suppliers. Ukraine doesn't care where...
Arab countries are major donors that fund UNRWA and the PLO which provides salaries, food, education and healthcare for the Palestinian people. Several Arab countries fund Gaza construction programs.
7.62WP has worse ballistics than 5.56, which is especially important in long range mountain fighting like in Yemen. I don't know, I'm not a fan of changing the platform so drastically in the middle of a war. Maybe the G36's problems that troubled the German army cropped up in Saudi service too...
I prefer partnerships with European and Asian companies liek Thales and Navantia. You never know when a US senator needs to drum up support for a re-election campaign and decides to go after Saudi Arabia as per usual.
I'm surprised that the AK-103 has become the standard rifle of the Saudi Army. It seemed the army was ping ponging between AUG Steyr's, G36Cs and M4/M16 platforms before abandoning 5.56 altogether for AK-103. What happened?
Why do people assume that Hajj revenues are a significant source of revenue for Saudi Arabia? It's important for local business owners in Mecca and Medina but the Central government's budget is barely affected.
Frankly, I don't believe this report is true. The only source reporting it is Turkish, Qatari and Iranian media. Saudi Arabia's adversarial relationship with Turkey is a lot less adversarial than most people really realize.
It was reported to be part of the same deal for the four LCS vessels

The same reason these submarines are supposedly effective (Shallow waters making Sonar ineffective) are the same reason they are ineffective, shallow waters...
I have a relative in the RSAF who is a Tornado pilot (so his opinion may be a bit biased) but he stated Saudi pilots loved the Tornado for strike missions as it had much better low flying capabilities and because Saudi F-15S doesn't have terrain following radar (They don't have the LANTIRN pod...
