11-Year-Old Yemeni Girl Nada Al-Ahdal Flees Home to Avoid Forced Marriage

Feeling really sorry for her. I wonder when this savage, brutal fanaticism will end.

    A Better World

India: I love how you've become the 3rd largest economy in the world, the world's largest democracy and a (mostly) free, secular state.

seriously I hate Times of India..

An Indian newspaper reported the "royal baby" thing. So what? It's being reported around the world. No need to view it as a sort of reflection of India's colonial past. As for the news itself, it's pretty annoying. I've personally never been quite fond of "royalty". Words like "royal" and...

    Is Urdu under threat?

In my opinion, Urdu is getting increasingly influential in Pakistan at the cost of regional languages. I'm not sure, but from what I've seen most schools in the Punjab don't even teach Punjabi nowadays. An exponentially increasing percentage of the younger demographic of the population is being...

China to invest $6bn in energy sector

If this works out and everything, will the government be able to sufficiently reduce load-shedding?

    Pakistan’s new big threat isn’t terrorism — it’s water

But then again, load-shedding and chronic debt has been a problem for quite some time now. If our government can't solve that anytime soon, how in the world will it tackle the water crisis? Things seem scary. :what:

Mamnoon Hussain most likely to replace Zardari

Guess Najam Sethi Sahab's chirya was right this time as well. I guess whether you love the guy or hate him, you can't deny the accuracy of his analysis.

    Urdu & Hindi Poetry

Excellent leftist / sufi poetry. Quite frankly, I am not that good at Urdu, hence I understood a part of the phrases through the English translation, but it seems very profound and inspiring. Mori araj suno, dastagir pir O my Lord, pay heed to my appeal (repeat) Mairee kahun kaa say mein...

A Thank or a New Post Quote - which is more stimulating ?

Although I am new here, I seem to find quotes more stimulating than thanks. A thank is somewhat like a real-life pat on the back, it reassures one but that's pretty much it. A quote can either agree, disagree or append to your original post. Hence, it can be reassuring, disagreeable (perhaps...

Our Enemies before you step in to our Mother Land Watch this Video once

Strange, I thought only us Pakistanis (well, some of us, anyway) were paranoid and over-expectant of invasions. Guess the mind-set is pretty much the same in India.

Suprising Pakistan. Are Things Really Changing?

Sir, I am terribly sorry if I caused you any inconvenience. Just to clarify a few things. When I wrote that post mentioning PTI, I only meant it to be a neutral question as to the influence created by the party on the country. I was thoroughly satisfied by your well-reasoned reply and I left the...

Suprising Pakistan. Are Things Really Changing?

You made excellent points, Sir. I have one question, though, about point 4). It is true that feudals have played, and are playing a major part in Pakistani politics. But don't you think after the advent of PTI, this problem is gradually decreasing?

Sri Lanka set a zero poverty goal for 2016

Best of luck, hope the mission succeeds. Actually, I'm a bit jealous. Compared to the ridiculously low literacy rate, catastrophically high population growth rate, and economic decline in my own country, Sri-Lanka seems like some rich Nordic utopia. I wonder when, if ever, poverty in Pakistan...
