I am for a result oriented funding.I don't know how pharma industry works, but this is what I propose....Like if a lab comes up with a concept for a new drug, the Govt should fund its development in return for complete or partial control of its marketing and pricing.
The Govt should give an ultimatum to Govt labs to come out with something worthwhile or face closure. Anyways I think its better to fund pvt labs than maintain entire non-productive facilities.
They were independent researchers. If the scientists working on a particular drug forgo their salary and royalty, that will lower the price the drug by a large extent.
Dude have you seen the salaries of the people employed by these companies, even in India they are paid handsomely. Add to that the various regulations and the expenses for testing etc. Can we blame them if they are charging high.Afterall they are pvt companies and are bound to answer their share...
