    The chinese designation for type 091 is 09-I. for type 093 is 09-III. Now what does that tells you? An hint it is a modification on 091. Not a new family. You can forget about rival the US subs for the next 3-4 decades. You will be lucky to have something approaching their current subs by then.

    Russia supplies China with engines all the time. J10s, Su-27s, SU-30 MKK , Y20 etc. They dont need to sell Su-35 just for the engines. They can make good money with the engines alone.
