    US Abandoning Iraq

Hmmm, didn't Hillary Clinton just say something along the lines that Americas withdrawl depended on Iraq's stability? Yes, here we go..

‘US threatened to attack Swat Taliban if Pakistan failed to act’

Well I must apologise if I've offended your sensibilities Sir. I prefer not to use the name 'Taliban' ascribed to them as it gives them a kudos or mana I don't believe they deserve. Nor would I describe them as 'men of war' as to me that would be men who fight and die defending their country...

‘US threatened to attack Swat Taliban if Pakistan failed to act’

I'm not to sure about this sentence Firstly that the US has the immediate wherewithal to irradicate the Talibunnies from the SWAT area, and secondly that the ISI has such absolute control over the Talibunnies. While I have no doubt there is a connection, such control as the times claims would...

What a young 21 year old resident of ISL thinks about our situation?

Splendid to be here matey, thought I'd come and get the good oil from source as it were as regards SWAT, Buner and the PA's apparent reluctance to fight their own people....

What a young 21 year old resident of ISL thinks about our situation?

Goodness me, I find my last post here was apparently 2006, how remiss of me. Apropos of the subject, during my own brief but turbulent tenure at university I found that while filled to the brim with fine rhetoric and high falutin' ideals, your average student tended to leave it to the hoi...

The Battle for Bajaur - PA seizes control

Actually the only time we've ever talked is on threads on other forums AgNoStIc MuSliM, never on this forum, your getting confused. Irrelevant anyway. I've had a chat with Asim and asked him to please pass on my comments to you. Otherwise, we consider this matter closed.

The Battle for Bajaur - PA seizes control

And where to see is that 'reaction' pray tell Asim? There's obviously a private discourse concerning what you view as my opinions that you gentlemen have been discussing, I'd love to know exactly what basis you have. As for professionalism, tell that to your American chum AgNoStIc MuSliM who...

The Battle for Bajaur - PA seizes control

I am sticking to the subject AgNoStIc MuSliM, it was after all you who raised these issues in this very thread. :yahoo: I had written more detailed questions to your assertions but your friend keysersoze saw fit to first soft and then perma-delete them, out of embarrassment on your behalf I...

The Battle for Bajaur - PA seizes control

Well, goodness me AgNoStIc MuSliM, posts on this forum do keep disappearing don't they? So, care to explain?

Dutch populist Wilders calls for ban on Koran

As someone who is interested in the pursuit of truth I could do no less Neo, so no thanks are needed. Ignorance, or in this case IMO willful ignorance, must be met, heard and countered with reason. In the same vein as one of my hero's Liebniz "In the realm of spirit, seek clarity; in the...

Al-Qaeda claims responsibility of Bhutto's assassination

I've followed Salim across several forums and I've never seen him "spill your hatered against Pakistan and Muslims". He has certainly criticised Pakistan, but then there are very few subjects he does not view with a critical eye, including his own country. Perhaps you are mistaking him for...

Al-Qaeda claims responsibility of Bhutto's assassination

The Colonels comments recently on lack of leadership are striking a chord with me. Is there no opposition leader with the basic intelligence to call for calm rather than vengeance or unrest? As for the elections, let them do what ours do, small stage managed meetings shown on tv.

A killing that reverberates far beyond Pakistan

I don't think I've read a report in the western press in the last three years that hasn't described Musharrafs hold on power as 'shakey'. Strangely enough, he's still there and seems none the worse for all the shaking he's received.:coffee:

Al-Qaeda claims responsibility of Bhutto's assassination

Oh for the days of a national unity government. If the PPP stand aside after Musharraf goes ahead with the elections at the earliest possible opportunity they will look weak in the eyes of their people. Either way, as Neo says, elections followed by strikes against FATA will receive strong...

Al-Qaeda claims responsibility of Bhutto's assassination

I agree. It will be expensive in blood, but will ensure Pakistans long term future Ironically it may be the most unifying thing for some time. If any good can come from her murder, I hope this is it.

Al-Qaeda claims responsibility of Bhutto's assassination

What are going to be the follow on effects? From my limited knowledge, AQ within Pakistan are primarily in Waziristan and the general NWFP? Does this mean a greater and more forceful military presence in these areas? More or less communication with the Taliban?
