And time is the critical factor. On the one hand we have western interests with a demand for near instant results and an aversion to anything that may be construed as 'colonialism', on the other the security and development of Afghanistan as a nation state will IMHO require generational change.
I realize you want to move “beyond the semantics” of your claim but, as has been pointed out to you before, words have meaning.
I was simply going to toss that comment off as another flippant reply but as we’ve had what I can describe as rational debates prior to this I...
In your rush to offer the usual dismissives you obviously missed these
So, instead of offering the usual 'ad hominems' perhaps you can further define how 'abandoned' equates to a continuing and escalating presence?
;)
This from the person who claims continued military presence and aid means 'abandonment'.
The narrative of the 'intelligensia', where everything is something else and all fault lies elsewhere.
You rightly got called by S-2. The more you open your mouth, the more foolish you appear,so please...
Lordy:no:.
Force and aid has constantly increased since the invasion.
The myth that somehow 'those 100,000' would have been put in Afghanistan if not deployed to Iraq is simply that, a myth.

Pretty much agree with the whole thing, although
had a special irony considering what we've been up to in Bamyan since the invasion.
A lot of it was pretty much what I was trying to sell Astralis on a while ago but which he didn't seem to have too much time for. Perhaps because I was using...
Have we met? :)
Personally I tend to use the same name across boards as I like people to know who I am and what I think: Asim, Agnostic Muslim and S-2 do likewise. I can only speculate the reasons you do not....
While your comment is disingenuous on several levels I'll limit myself to the simple comment; that was then, this is now....
Pakistan: Divided by Faith
Sure Asim, whatever you say;)
As usual, you misrepresent the original quote to realign the argument in your own favour.
To wit
Like I said, why on earth would ABCA allow the destruction of their armies?
And why on earth would you attempt to support this idiot?
Here's an idea though: since you're so convinced that the PA could do sooo much better at controlling Afghanistan, how about moving some of the PA off your southern borders, ally with the ISAF and set about hunting the Talibunies and AQ side by side with your western 'allies'.
