so how does it influence culture and individual lives?
for laypeople, are there some buddhist rituals typically done? shrines to be visited? calendar based festivals?
what about monasteries. are they in operation?
as a sidenote, i had a couple of fantastic buddhist friends from ladakh...
i am interested to learn more about the role of buddhism in chinese society from the chinese members.
ps: i am named after the buddha and am something of a fan :)
the average chinese opinion on india counts for jack doesn't it. ultimately its the power centres which decide whether compete or co-operate dominates.
i don't have a case to make apart from 2 simple assertions.
1) i personally don't believe majority of american muslims repudiate all the contentious parts of sharia. (i don't believe the majority of any muslim population anywhere repudiate this in principle)
2) no one else should be expected...
i think you missed the crucial point that desiring islamic laws contra UNDHR is not just an issue of label but rather the faith. i think there is a need for american muslims to repudiate such law explicitly.
i may me be misinformed, but apparently only 2 out of a 100 or so organizations...
to me the case of the mosque is clear cut. american law works inside america and the mosque is legal.
however, legal discrimination largely exists in muslim majority countries(dictatorships and democracies included) and if the Cairo declaration is the best one can hope for, its not going to...

the sikhs in india have no such issues. manmohan is the PM of the country. not president which is a nominal head but PM who has all the executive power.
uk is breeding all kinds of extremists for some reason.
i meant that stealth will become very important in this environment and its much better to have a high low mix of expensive stealth fighters and lighter but cheaper aircraft like f16 / gripen etc rather than go whole hog on more of these bombtrucks which will light up easy on awacs and sam...
don't 270+ 4th gen high rcs aircraft sound like a bad idea for the next 30 years? as radar, awacs and bvraam capabilities improve, these might end up as ineffective.
i certainly don't want any more of these in the AF.
on topic , i couldn't find anything on the flyaway cost or this deal. bad...
afaik, punishment for adultery has been a contentious issue in turkey too, for obvious reasons.
sharia creep can happen in democracies because constitutions can be amended.
complacency over turkey's secularism is misplaced.
