India ranks 35th among 'flawed democracies'

Bollocks. Democracy is about choices. The only choice the people of China have, is CPC. If they had any other choice, apart from CPC, even if that choice was ideologically communist, China would have qualified as a democracy. Incidentally, Hong Kong is the creation of a country which is...

Half a million illegal Indians staying and working in Bangladesh

Says who ? Says the one, who thinks printing money can save an economy, the one, who thinks that comparing a Bangladesh's GDP to an Indian state's GSDP is fair assessment, the one, who doesn't know the difference between GDP and GSDP, the one, who, can't explain why in spite of having positive...

OK. I will take your word for it. Your earlier posts gave a different impression though. There you go again. Frankly, I am tired now. Just before I disengage with you, I will remind you, that FDI in India used to be primarily in automobile sector, which is technology oriented. Immediate effect...

Half a million illegal Indians staying and working in Bangladesh

We understand that Mr Munshi is some sort of demi-god to you guys, and hence the need to defend him, while he watches your antics in silence. Here's what he said while posting his data (post #39) Means, even he was unsure of the accuracy. When he was asked to reveal his source, he, finally...

Half a million illegal Indians staying and working in Bangladesh

You guys first decide what you want to say. While one is saying.... ...the other is saying... I am not sure, if you really understand what current account is. Hence the constant bumbling with 6% deficit.

Thank you very much. The article seems to be ecstatic, quite rightly, about FDI boom in India. Even, my layman knowledge of economics, tells me, it is a good indicator of an economy. However some quotes from the same article (Data is of 04-05 and is probably irrelevant today): You are...

My apologies. I have corrected my post now. Did I touch a raw nerve there ? Yes I did. Finding it hard to rebut my post and hence resorting to argument from authority? Yes you are. Mission accomplished.

Head less chicken ? You love to project, don't ya. As with the last part of your comment - you will be doing a favour to your country if you divert this concern to your homeland. She needs it more. We will worry about ourselves. But thanks for the concern.

CIA World Factbook does not provide state wise GSDP figure. State directorate of statistics releases data in INR and in GSDP format. So please enlighten us about how you have arrived at those GDP(?) figures for individual states. And this time around, try to provide direct links. As with your...

A link would be appreciated. I just don’t understand why people don’t give links when they quote raw data. Anyway, you may want to note this excerpt from the paper, Bangladesh in 21st Century, presented at Harvard. “In 1993, Bangladesh's total public debt amounted to Tk.725...

Of course you are convinced. You are seeing what you want to see. OTOH, we are not, because we are not seeing what we asked Mr Munshi to show us. Actually I am with godsavetheworld. He has made some valid points. First off, Mr Munishi’s figure are most likely some bull’s excreta. There is...

A minor correction. It is Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) not GDSP. And you are probably correct. GSDP calculations leave out Import Export figures (my economics is rusty. I vaguely remember something like that though)

India ranks 35th among 'flawed democracies'

    HUH? What the...? Aren't we supposed to be a "fake" democracy. Some prominent countries that we have beaten: Electoral process & pluralism(9.58): Canada(9.17), Japan(8.75), US(8.75), Israel(8.75) Functioning of govt.(8.21): US(7.86), Greece(7.5), France(7.5), Italy(6.43), Israel(7.5)...

Help me in debated against Pakistani Army

I called it a rant, because the author willfully sidestepped the core issue - secularism. Its all about vote bank politics. Yes, all sort of subsidy, in whatever form, whether direct or indirect, to any religious community must be stopped. However, govt. has its responsibility as...

Help me in debated against Pakistani Army

The only point left out in the whole rant is an answer to a tiny question: Why should India subsidize a religious pilgrimage, whichever religion, it may be, when it is constitutionally secular ?

Jogger Shoe Swirled at Indian Minister P Chadambaram

Funny part is Mr Chidambaram has nothing to do with 1984 riots (or so I understand), neither is he in any way involved in the investigation. His ill fortune is that, he is the home minister at present. A wrong man, at a wrong time and place. However, I personally sympathize with the journos...

This is funny. Reminds me of that hindi adage. "Ulta chor kotwal ko datein." (The thief scolds the police officer). I love these reverse psychology games.
