As I said in a different thread, this is a new perspective that we cannot discount, so thanks for the link.
I'd only note that even if you do go by this story, mutilation/ beheading is no response by a professional army, and goes way beyond the norms of warfare between two professional...
Thanks for posting this article that provides a different perspective from the ones I had read before. I'd like to point out that it is one among many advanced by Indian media. However, that does not mean it is not true.
I'd still say that regardless of who started it, the PA response - if...
First there was this:
Severed head of Indian soldier yet to be found: Army - The Times of India
Now we have this:
http://in.reuters.com/article/2013/01/09/india-pakistan-kashmir-firing-reaction-idINDEE90802T20130109
I think a precise accounting of what happened is now very important.
In the interests of fair play I'm quoting a Pakistani journalist (not sure of his name) and Najam Sethi on NDTV (briefly):
Quoting a senior Pakistan army officer- "Why would want an incident on the Eastern border at a time when we are focusing on our western one"?
Journalist opinion...
It makes sense if you look at our sad mutual history, doesn't make sense from the POV of this incident.
I agree that having refused UN involvement, the thing to do for GoI is to find a neutral third party for this incident.
I want to state that personally I believe IA. However, it seems hard...
As I stated in another thread- India has traditionally refused UN involvement in matters related to Pakistan, just as Pakistan has traditionally tried to get the UN to engage.
So India will view this as a back door attempt by pakistan to legitimize UN involvement; and once that door is ajar, a...
I don't think war is the answer. I believe the armed forces of my country:
Severed head of Indian soldier yet to be found: Army - The Times of India
But I understand that Pakistanis will believe their military.
So we have a stalemate.
Can we stop this macho posturing, please?
mr420 the response to your very logical question is as follows: India does not want to have third party mediation in dealings with Pakistan. It is not just this incident - In the past as well India has rejected UN intervention in other areas. I am not...
Oh, and for jingoes on both sides, I repeat pick up a gun and go to the border. Why let the soldiers die when we have heroes here apparently ready to do it?
As for me, I took an NRA coaching course once over a month or so- goli ki ZOR awaaz sun ke meri to p.h.a.t gayi.
If, and I repeat if, the allegations are true, yes I agree.
But I would also like the IA to take this with PA officers at a senior level to find out just what the heck happened, and why. No military posturing, just a plain face to place frank talk. Perhaps PA just lost control over their...
What are you seeing? I'm watching the channel in Delhi and all I see is that IA has called it a "grave provocation". BUt I have missed a lot of the current show.
NDTV is saying: "Sources- Head of one soldier missing". Has IA confirmed it? Just checking.
Edit: IA apparently has said "Grave provocation". But AFAIK no specifics were given.
I don't think too many of us doubt PA's abilities or professionalism.
I think it is the allegation- unproved I may add- of mutilation/ decapitation that is making Indian forummers angry.
Some of the TV press here is whipping up sentiment in the worst possible way.
