Taliban ban women from parks, morality ministry says

One thing is sure the mullah will fall one day as well, just like the Shah, they seem to be out of touch with the people.
Lol people have been saying that for the past 43 years.

Lol people have been saying that for the past 43 years.
43 years is quite short actually. Some african dictators by themselves have ruled even longer than that or as much as that lol . So thats nothing in the lifespan of a country and ruling regime. Saddams regime ruled for almost as long. If not for our intervention he probably still will be there. Doesnt means the people wanted his regime that much .

Seriously i think the other guy has a point. Seeing how barbaric Irans mullah regime has acted with this protests, i can only say they are not very far from their mullah brethrens in Afghanistan. Funny enough Iranian are quite liberal and open people but ruled by a religious islamic cleric regime. One thing is sure the mullah will fall one day as well, just like the Shah, they seem to be out of touch with the people.
you guys problem is that you think this protest was about headscarf or how women only treated , you are wrong on that .and in the protest male were more at target than females but who care about these annoying little details.

also if it is good for us then its good for you . how many woman USA police killed in last two years , how they treated black life matter protest , didn't USA court have a history for freeing the killer of 15 year old black girl by just fining the killer 500$.
do you knew USA police killed around 300 woman on street in last 5 year ,do you knew they kill 1000 people each year on street , why nobody say Barbaric USA regime that's you guys double standards , why you didn't call USA police barbaric after they five time fire at a pregnant woman after she said to them that she is pregnant and then after she fell they handcuff her instead of controlling the bleeding?

An UNHCR worker pushes a wheelbarrow loaded with aid supplies for a displaced Afghan family outside a distribution centre as a Taliban fighter secures the area on the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan October 28, 2021.

KABUL:
Afghanistan's Taliban-run administration on Saturday ordered all local and foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to stop female employees from coming to work, according to an economy ministry letter, in the latest crackdown on women's freedoms.

The letter, confirmed by economy ministry spokesperson Abdulrahman Habib, said the female employees were not allowed to work until further notice because some had not adhered to the administration's interpretation of Islamic dress code for women.

It was not immediately clear whether the order applied to United Nations agencies, which have a large presence in Afghanistan.

It comes days after the Taliban-run administration ordered universities to close to women, prompting strong global condemnation and sparking some protests and heavy criticism inside Afghanistan.

UK’s envoy calls ban on Afghan girls’ education a tragedy

KABUL (Amu tv): The United Kingdom’s chargé d’affaires to Afghanistan, Rob Dickson, called the Taliban’s continued ban on girls’ education “a tragedy for them and their country,” as a new school year begins with hundreds of thousands of students still barred from classrooms.

In a statement posted on social media, Dickson noted that with the start of another academic year, an additional 400,000 girls will be denied the right to attend school — bringing the total number of Afghan girls out of school to more than 2.2 million.

“This is a tragedy for them and their country,” he said. “Education is a right, not a privilege.”

Dickson called on the Taliban to lift the restrictions, which have remained in place since the group returned to power in August 2021. Under current policy, girls above sixth grade are prohibited from attending school across most of the country.

The ban has drawn widespread condemnation from the international community, including Muslim-majority countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which have urged the Taliban to reverse course.

Despite repeated calls, the Taliban have given no indication that they intend to reopen secondary and higher education to girls, prompting concern from human rights groups over the long-term consequences for Afghanistan’s development and stability.

Taliban ban women from parks, morality ministry says

Afghan women will no longer be allowed in parks, a spokesperson for the Taliban’s morality ministry said, in part because they had not been meeting its interpretation of Islamic attire during their visits.

Mohammad Akif Muhajir, the spokesman for the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, made the comments in an interview with local media and, when asked about the restrictions, referred Reuters to audio of the interview.

“For the last 14 or 15 months we were trying to provide an environment according to Sharia (Islamic law) and our culture for women to go to the parks,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the owners of parks didn’t cooperate with us very well, and also the women didn’t observe hijab as was suggested. For now, the decision has been taken that they are banned,” he said, referring to the group’s interpretation of the Islamic dress code for women.

Almost all women in Afghanistan wear a head scarf, or hijab, in public. However, the Taliban have said women should wear long flowing clothes that cover their bodies and also cover their faces, such as the all-enveloping burqa. Some women in Kabul and other urban centres do not cover their faces in public and others wear surgical face masks.

Western governments have said the Taliban needs to reverse its course on women’s rights, including a U-turn on signals they would open girls’ high schools, for any path towards formal recognition of the Taliban government.

It was not clear how long the park restrictions would last and whether they would be extended across Afghanistan.

Park operators in western Herat and northern Balkh and Badakhshan provinces said they had not been asked to stop women from entering yet.

Some women in those provinces told Reuters they were watching the restrictions in Kabul closely and were worried they might be applied in other provinces.

“Here they haven’t restricted women and girls yet but you will never know when they change their minds,” said a woman in Badakhshan who asked to remain anonymous.

The Taliban say they respect women’s rights in accordance with their interpretation of Islamic law.

What's wrong with women in Burka in parks? 🙂

... It is archaic sense of morality. One of my grandfather used to tell men to face the wall when unrelated women not in burqa entered the house.

Taliban attitude cannot be explained by religion alone.
Taliban are Son of Soil of Afghanistan, and winners against foreign rule of NATo. They would come with bit better news...
We find victorious Taliban deserve seat in UN 👍

They appear primitive though and their restriction on women is harsh and unnecessary. It must be Western powers blocking them from UN, because Russia and China have met Taliban delegation and want to work with them. They are from the rural culture of Afghanistan which would form their support base. I think during NATO occupation they had most of rural Afghanistan practically under their control. I wonder what percentage of rural Afghans voted in the elections during the occupation? Don't recall statistics. I believe these Afghans mistrust democratic party politics.

We discussed this topic once. And Western bloc confirmed that we could never receive tax outside Kabul city of Afghan. Rural Afghan never paid tax to NATO leadership, and this effort was led by Son of Soils of Afghanistan which included Taliban too 🙂

Hence Karzai was called mayor of Kabul. They are a tribal society and already have tribal or clan leaders much closer to them than a politician, who could be from a party they do not like, or from a tribe with whom they have enmity. It is tough to govern such a society.
