My father was a poor gardener in the Lahore University from 1938 to 1965.My mother was from Karachi and married him in 1950. Both were poor Hindus who chose to stay after partition. My Father was born in Lahore so was my grandfather in 1890. They were poor servants in the army mess but very loyal. My sister was born in Karachi 1951.My Father refused to join my uncles in 1947 to migrate and had very close Muslim friends who saved us during the difficult period. He had to leave, much to his disappointment due to the animosity of one person with extreme religious views who discriminated due to religion not due to his steadfast faith in the country of his birth, during 1964. It is a thing of the past now.
My mother came to India permanently earlier in 1960 carrying me in the stomach and settled at Port Novo in Tamil Nadu.My father is still alive , He is 96 years old and wishes for friendship between Pakistan and India. we also feel the same as Indians. We share a common heritage, why do we fight.
